Description

Chrysanthemum sterling silver water pitcher made by Tiffany & Co. in New York.

  • Rectilinear-shaped bowl with embossed flared tendrils at corners.
  • Gently curved neck and helmet mouth with turned-down rim and scroll handle.
  • Four flat volute supports.
  • Heavy and substantial with flower-head mounts on handle and supports as well as shoulder garlands and overlapping leaves on mouth rim.
  • Helmet mouth and scroll handle.
  • A great piece in this pattern, which is a New World interpretation of a Japanese motif.
  • Fully marked including maker’s stamp, pattern no. 5724 and director’s letter T (1892–1902).
