Description

American Art Nouveau silver overlay and earthenware floral pitcher.

  • Ceramic body made by Rookwood and designed by Emma Foertmeyer of Cincinnatti.
  • Bellied bowl, cylindrical neck and silver looping scroll handle.
  • Engraved with the date May 16, 1894 between interlaced script monograms.
  • Earthenware marked with dated maker’s stamp, artist’s signature, shape no. 537, and size letter D.
  • Silver marked with Gorham maker's stamp and number R1251.
