Description

English Victorian solid silver & enamel cigar box, made by the eminent firm of Sampson Mordan & Co Ltd.

  • The opposing hinged silver covers are enameled with the words "cigars" and "cigarettes" in blue enamel italics and open to reveal twin compartments.
  • Both, like the base, are lined with wood to help protect their precious contents.
  • It is worth noting that modern cigars might struggle to fit in the relevant compartment unless custom-made, but would have no problem holding cigarillos.
  • Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1892 (R), Maker Sampson Mordan & Co.
