Description

An English sterling silver wine ewer.

  • Hand-engraved with Chinoiserie scenes of people in traditional dress and a merchant carrying goods suspended over the shoulder, surrounded by bamboo trees in landscape and the beck and spout decorated with a Khmai motif.
  • Mounted with an elaborate scroll-shaped handle and a hinged lid.
  • Engraved with a presentation—General Manager's Trophy, Burroughs Ltd, 1932 won by West Australian Agency, C.Ryan, Manager.
  • Hallmarked English silver (925 standard), London, year 1879 (D), maker ECB (Richards & Charles Brown).
