Description

English George IV sterling silver snuffbox.

  • Made by Joseph Willmore in Birmingham in 1825.
  • Rectangular with hinged cover and tooled ornamental rims.
  • Cover and bottom have same borders.
  • Sides engine-turned as is bottom center.
  • Cover center has engraved script presentation: “This Box / Presented to Joseph Hunt by his / Brother Sergeants by the 37th Reg..t / as a Lasting Memento of Friendship / after a Service of 27 Years in the Corps / Limerick 26 Augt 1828.”
  • Fully marked with maker's stamp.
