American silver figural and floral mounted centerpiece.

  • Round and curved bowl mounted to open support comprising three leafing oak shoots with acorns.
  • Cast figure of standing boy holding a ball in each hand with one arm raised.
  • Domed foot.
  • Reeding and beading. 
  • Marked “Ball, Black & Co. / New York” and “289 / English Sterling”.
  • Until the mid-19th century, American silver was coin standard (90% silver), but in the 1860s, American makers adopted the English sterling standard.
