Description

Meissen porcelain figure emblematic of America and Europe.

  • Model by F.E. Meyer.
  • Modeled as two frolicking putti on round-shaped rocaille molded base enriched in gilt.
  • America wearing feathered headdress and waistband, kneeling on the back of an alligator-like mythical creature, holding a bow in his right hand, arrow in his left and a full quiver next to the creature.
  • Europe seated on a rocky outcrop, holding an orb and a scepter with dueling pistols at his feet.
  • Marked with an underglaze blue crossed swords mark and indecipherable red painted numbers beginning 15 on the underside.
