Nike SB Dunk Low Pro Skate or Die Sample | Size 9

In 2008, Nike Skateboarding (SB) released the Dunk Low Pro “Skate or Die” to pay homage to Skate or Die, a skateboarding simulator developed by Electronic Arts. The shoe’s bold colorway draws inspiration from the cover art made for the video game released in 1987. Abstract spirals, circles and lines found all over the cover art are used to decorate the heel on the sneaker and reimagines these motifs. The shoe features a neon yellow Swoosh with aqua blue suede overlays. A blue rubber midsole with orange outsole surrounds a black leather side panel and toe box. Nike branding can be found on the tongue and heel tab.

The Nike Dunk, designed in the 1980s and intended for basketball, was eventually repurposed for skateboarding. The popular model would be reworked in the early 2000s with upgrades for the skateboarding community, leading to the formal debut of the Nike SB brand. The man behind it, former Nike executive Sandy Bodecker, is credited with building one of Nike’s most beloved subdivisions with the Nike SB line.
