Description

Composed of 2 fancy cut hexagonal citrines, accented by 6 graduated round brilliant cut yellow diamonds. Pendants are detachable.

  • Citrines weighing a total of 11.06 carats
  • Diamonds weighing a total of approximately 0.05 carat
  • 18 karat yellow gold
  • Stud total weight 7.5 grams
  • Earring drop total weight 21 grams
  • Total earring weight 28.5 grams

Hand-carved in wax, cast with lost wax technique and hand-fabricated by Melanie Eddy. Polished and finished by hand with a number of finishes including Melanie’s signature satin finish. These earrings were inspired by Melanie’s childhood home of Bermuda and its locally popular loquat — a golden yellow plum-like fruit found in many a garden, including that of her childhood home and growing wild throughout the island. The loquat is much cherished in Bermuda — with locals young and old savoring the sticky sweet fruit. For Melanie, the fruit symbolizes joy, the sweetness of life, family and community. Her grandmother Myrtle, who is 108, credits loquats (alongside bathing in the sea) with her longevity.

This piece is part of Sotheby's Brilliant and Black, the selling exhibition dedicated to showcasing the extraordinary skill, imagination and craftsmanship of Black jewelry designers.
