The Air Jordan IV, one of the most popular models of Air Jordans was created by famed Nike designer Tinker Hatfield. It was the second Air Jordan model that Tinker designed and the second one to feature visible Air. The Air Jordan IV originally came out in 1989 with 4 colors: white and cement grey, white black and red, off-white and military blue, and black and red (Bred). Because of its popularity the Air Jordan IV has seen many innovative collaborations throughout its history. 

The Union LA x Air Jordan 4 Retro ‘Off Noir’ is the sequel to the creative partners' Air Jordan 1 collaboration from 2018. The style delivers a reimagined take on the classic silhouette in black suede with breathable blue mesh on the collar and black mesh on the toe box. Semi-translucent TPU wings provide structural support, taking cues from an original Tinker Hatfield sketch. The shoe is branded with a yellow Union tab on the lateral quarter panel, a black heel tab with red Nike Air text and swoosh, and a red woven Air Jordan tag atop the folded-over tongue.
