Description

Finely bound set of the Tokugawa Edition of Brinkley's history of China and Japan.

  • Sold as a set of 12.
  • Captain Francis Brinkley (Irish).
  • Boston and Tokyo: J.B. Millet, circa 1900.
  • Limited edition of 50 sets, this is number 4 prepared for Jilia Lowell Coburn of Concord, printed on Japanese Vellum.
  • Finely bound in full brown morocco gilt, covers paneled in gilt, the spines tooled and lettered in gilt with raised bands and a gilt floral motif with red morocco inlays, gilt turn-ins, elaborate green morocco doublures with a flower with brown, red, pink, purple and white morocco inlays, green watered silk endpapers, the top edge gilt.
