Description
The Rolex Reference 4491 most commonly denotes a 1950s vintage ladies’ bracelet watch crafted in 18k rose gold. Typical of Rolex’s midcentury jewelry watch era, the 4491 pairs a petite round case with an integrated gold bracelet, creating a refined, dress oriented silhouette rather than a tool watch aesthetic. Though not widely documented, it represents the kind of elegant, precious metal ladies’ timepiece Rolex produced in small variations throughout the post war period, pieces prized today for their classic proportions, hand finished bracelet work, and timeless vintage charm.
The bracelet is signed Rolex, it is quite rare to find a fully signed bracelet watch from this era.
Condition Report
The watch is in very good overall condition considering its age, the case and the bracelet with surface wear throughout, dial with signs of oxidation due to aging. The movement is running at the time of cataloging, however, it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion. Please note that Sotheby's does not guarantee the future working of the movement.
