CATALOGUE NOTE
my heart makes my head swim (ditto, ditto battle angel) is a monumental sculpture of a black angel, inspired by the caryatids on the facade of the Our Lady of Victories Cathedral in Dakar, Senegal and cast in concrete, the figure will weather over time, becoming host to plant life in the form of mosses and lichens.

“In Precious Okoyomon’s work, organic materials serve a dual purpose: they remind us of our violent histories but also celebrate nature’s ability to adapt and flourish in the face of man-made crises.”
-Coco Romack, New York Times T Magazine
