In this work, I am thinking about old masters paintings of saints or other religious figures and how interesting it would be to paint one. I am fascinated by the way renaissance painters built up the surface of their paintings using grisaille and I wanted to see what it would be like to paint something in a similar way. I love old Catholic paintings and the way artists depicted figures to make them feel ethereal or magical.
