"Five Years" is made from illustrations I found in "The New Colour-Picture Dictionary for Children", by Archie Bennett published in 1977. I sourced the book from the Sunnyside Books and Media Swap on my way home from work one day in Queens. I began making collages a little over five years ago, and this artwork features the fragments I was experimenting with at the time, now all glued down to the same sheet. Back then, I was interested in fusion, combination and patterns. I wanted to play with the magic that occurs when placing something out of order or next to something it doesn’t belong to.
