ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Richard Tuttle was born in 1941 in Rahway, New Jersey and studied at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut. His first solo exhibition was at Betty Parsons Gallery (1965), and early surveys include the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York (1975), the Kunsthalle Basel (1977) and the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam (1978). Since then, he has been the subject of numerous solo exhibitions including ICA, London (1985), IVAM – Centre, Valencia (1992), Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth (1998), SFMOMA (2005), Whitechapel Gallery and Tate (2014-15), and The Phillips Collection (2018). His work is held by major public institutions worldwide.
