ARTIST BIOGRAPHY
Sheree Hovsepian (American b. Iran 1974, lives NY) received her MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2002, a dual BFA/BA from the University of Toledo in 1999, and studied at The Glasgow School of Art, Scotland in 1998. Hovsepian has exhibited widely domestically and abroad, including solo and two-person exhibitions Sheree Hovsepian and Paul Mpagi Sepuya, Team Gallery, LA (2019), The Altogether., moniquemeloche, Chicago (2018), Halsey McKay Gallery, East Hampton, NY (2017), Higher Pictures, NY (2017), Soft Landing, The Centre for Contemporary Photography, Toronto, (2014), The Whole Other with Konrad Wyrebek, Kristin Hjellegjerde, London (2015), Domes, Bischoff/Weiss Gallery, London (2013), Column, Etemad Gallery, Dubai (2012), West Street Gallery, NY (2010), and Portraits of Young Jewish Women, Spertus Museum, Chicago (2009). She has been included in several notable group exhibitions, including In the Eye of the Beholder, Tarble Arts Center, Charleston, IL (2018), and Out of Easy Reach, Stony Island Arts Bank, Chicago, (2018), which travelled to Grunwald Gallery, Indianapolis (2018). Hovsepian has been featured in Artforum, Hyperallergic, Garage Magazine, The New Yorker, The Creator’s Project, OSMOS Magazine, W Magazine, NY Arts Magazine, FLAUNT, The Photography Post, and The Miami Rail, amongst others. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Guggenheim Museum, Bronx Museum, Studio Museum in Harlem, The Art Institute of Chicago, the Spertus Museum Chicago, and the Zabludowicz Collection London. She currently serves on the Art Advisory Committee, Baxter St. at Camera Club of New York (2019-). She currently has a solo exhibition atHigher Pictures, NY (2019). Upcoming exhibitions include Vanishing Act, Halsey McKay Gallery, East Hampton, NY, and Reductive Seduction, the inaugural exhibition at CHART Gallery, NY. The artist is represented by Monique Meloche Gallery, Chicago.
