K avi Gupta is a leading contemporary art gallery based in Chicago. Its two permanent gallery locations host more than a dozen museum-quality exhibitions each year, and its publishing imprint, Kavi Gupta Editions, produces quality artist books and catalogues.

Kavi Gupta’s diverse, international program emphasizes contemporary artists from marginalized communities with complex, multifaceted practices. Working alongside these artists to develop new projects, original scholarship, and historic archives, Kavi Gupta’s program is renowned for its strong academic focus and pioneering vision. The gallery’s ambitious exhibition schedule is enriched by a slate of panel discussions, artist lectures, performances, film screenings, new media encounters, and ephemeral installations which expand and deepen dialogs surrounding individual artist practices and the contemporary discourse at large. Even outside of Chicago, Kavi Gupta’s expansive creative vision can be felt through curated projects at major international art fairs such as Art Basel Miami Beach and Frieze Masters, landmark-defining public arts initiatives, extensive support for institutional exhibitions and biennale projects, and the widespread proliferation of our catalogs and editions.

Since the gallery’s founding, Kavi Gupta has received enormous recognition as a vanguard of Chicago’s cultural community, and an important voice in the international art world. Kavi Gupta is proud to be a three-time recipient of the prestigious International Association of Art Critics (AICA-USA) Award for Best Show in a Commercial Space Nationally, most recently for Mickalene Thomas in 2014. The artists represented by Kavi Gupta have been featured in innumerable solo museum exhibitions and major international biennales, including multiple editions of the Venice Biennale, Documenta, and the Whitney Biennial, among many others.
