The Rolex Daytona reference 6241 was produced from the 1966 until 1969, with a slightly wider metal bezel and acrylic insert. Less than 3,000 reference 6241 wristwatches were made, and only a small fraction of them were made with a ‘Paul Newman’ dial. It has always been one of the most sought after vintage Daytonas in the market.
The present lot is offered with an exceptionally preserved, honest dial.
The case is in very good overall condition, and in our view, has probably seen a polishing in its past. The case and reference numbers in between the lugs remain crisp and intact. There is some minor surface scratches visible, but remain in nice condition. Please note that the strap provided is a standard Sotheby's strap for display purposes.

The chronograph function is operating properly at the time of cataloguing. The movement is running at time of cataloging, however it was not tested for the accuracy of time or duration of the power reserve and may need service at the buyer's discretion.
