Ruby, sapphire, enamel and diamond bangle, late 19th century
The partially articulated bangle applied with black enamel with a design of a flowering vine, set with variously shaped rubies and sapphires and cushion-shaped and rose diamonds, inscribed 'To Marie-Louise from F.W.L.B., March 22nd 1930', inner circumference approximately 170mm, French assay and maker's marks.

Provenance

Formerly in the collection of the artist Marie-Louise Roosevelt Pierrepont, Countess Manvers (1889-1984), received as a gift from her father, Sir Frederick William Louis Butterfield (1858-1943), of Cliffe Castle in Keighly, West Yorkshire, and thence by descent.
