This work is in original unlined condition. There is a patch adhered to the reverse at upper center beneath the stretcher bar. There is minor bumping and pulling of the canvas between the right figure and the rectangular painting. There is a minor dent on the carpet beneath the feet of the left figure with associated abrasion. Under UV: a green varnish fluoresces. The pink pigments in the bouquet of flowers at right remain active and fluoresce. There is a 1 ¼ inch wide area of inpainting at upper center, which corresponds to the aforementioned patch, with a few surrounding areas of brushy retouching; two large dots of retouching along the edge at upper right; dots and broad lines of strengthening on the left figure's costume and in the background at upper right; and a few additional isolated pinpoint dots and spots of retouching visible on the table, carpet, and in the background.
