Imbued with auspicious symbols, Le 1er mars 1980 is composed of bright red, orange and yellow hues. In this work, the flowing and surging beams of light that grow on the soil are floating in the glimmering sun, representing the evolving universe and the origin of life, lightening the darkness and slowly rising to the sky. The dark red shade on the top extends beyond the picture frame, suggesting there is an endless space outside the skyline and inviting the viewer to imagine the scene beyond. Completed in Chu Teh-Chun's late years, the positive energy prevailing in Le 1er mars 1980 is reminiscent of the artist's free state of mind and reflects the artist's experience of happiness through his lifetime.
The work is in very good condition. There are two minor paint losses, one is next to the top left corner, and the other one is in the middle of the piece. There is no evidence of restoration under UV light. "In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above.
