White Cube, London Acquired from the above by the present owner
London, White Cube, Tightrope Walk: Painted Images After Abstraction, November 2015 - January 2016, p. 121, illustrated in color
“I think it is important for the work to reflect a single situation and to realize that there never is a single perspective or meaning, even if it is your own. I think the poetic is implied in anything.”
This work is in excellent condition overall. Surface irregularities are evident throughout, most noticeable in areas corresponding to the seams between patches of Lubago bark clothes, inherent to the work and artist's chosen medium. Impasto peaks appear to be secure and intact in areas of thick paint layers. Under Ultraviolet light inspection, there is no evidence of restoration. Unframed. In response to your inquiry, we are pleased to provide you with a general report of the condition of the property described above. Since we are not professional conservators or restorers, we urge you to consult with a restorer or conservator of your choice who will be better able to provide a detailed, professional report. Prospective buyers should inspect each lot to satisfy themselves as to condition and must understand that any statement made by Sotheby's is merely a subjective qualified opinion. NOTWITHSTANDING THIS REPORT OR ANY DISCUSSIONS CONCERNING CONDITION OF A LOT, ALL LOTS ARE OFFERED AND SOLD "AS IS" IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CONDITIONS OF SALE PRINTED IN THE CATALOGUE.
