Overall, the condition of the alabaster is good, with some dirt and wear to the surface consistent with age. There are small losses to the left and right top corners of the relief, and to the bottom left corner. Therer are further small losses to both shepherd's staffs at the tops, to the arm fo the shepherd on the right background, and to the arms of the angel at the left foreground. There are minor chips and abrasions to the alabaster, including to the Virgin's cloak and to the Child's knees. A section of the relief at the top edge has been reattached, and there is some glue residue to the reverse. There are remnants of gilding and polychromy throughout.
