Catalogue Note

Working only with metal and the air around us, Oskar Zieta introduced a completely new technology to the realm of Design. Titled FiDU, which stands for ‘Freie Innen Druck Umformung’, or free inner-pressure deformation, two ultra thin pieces of metal are laser cut before being precisely welded together at the seams and inflated with low pressure air. Oskar defines this process a 'controlled loss of control', as each chair possesses its own unique form due to the pressure of the air within.

Zieta's designs are in the permanent collections of Centre Pompidou,Paris, the Pinakothek der Moderne, Munich, the Design Museum, Zurich and the Baden State Museum, Karlsruhe.
