Provenance

Palazzo Altoviti, Rome removed before demolition in 1888.

Catalogue Note

Bindo Altoviti's Roman palazzo was frescoed by Giorgio Vasari and Poccetti in the 1550s. When the palazzo was destroyed to make way for the new Tiber embankments in 1888 the frescoes were removed and whilst many were lost the loggia was reconstructed in its entirety in Palazzo Venezia.
