Catalogue Note

The iconic reference 6239 was introduced in the United States in 1963, and available in the US and Europe until 1969. It was the first model fitted with this exotic dial, later coined the Paul Newman dial, distinguished by its fine square markers. The so-called 'Paul Newman' dial is characterized by these square markers in the chronograph scale and subsidiary dials as well as the alternating patterning of the coloration. Though widely available at the time, theses dials were produced in smaller numbers and are rarer to find on watches today.

The present lot is in attractive condition with an especially crisp bezel. It is offered here for the first time at auction by the family of the original owner.
