A very atmospheric table in that it exhibits much wear from age and use. There is evidence of old worm and there is resulting damage which is evidence through fragmenting, exposed blond timber, chips and losses (notably to the stretcher rail). Front stretcher probably replaced but well done. One stretcher bowed. There is huge potential with sensitive conservation to reveal an attractive colour to the top. Wear to oak from scrubbing to the underside (a considerable time ago). Filler to top and joints. Re-blocked support to one corner under top. The underside of the top is extraordinary. This is an evocative piece of British Folk art by a talented joiner.
