A four-coloured gold and enamel snuff box in 18th century taste, circa 1970
Rectangular, the lid with jugate oval panels within elaborately chased coloured gold swag and husk frames on a striped blue enamel ground within chased borders, the sides similarly decorated, indistinct maker’s mark, measuring approximately 82 x 63 x 45mm.

Catalogue Note

The box draws inspiration from a double portrait snuff box of striped gold and mother-of-pearl from the Rothschild Collection, formerly at Waddesdon Manor.

The box was created by Jean-Marie Tiron (known as Tiron de Nanteuil) in Paris, 1765 - 1766.
