Jefferys, Thomas
'THE AMERICAN ATLAS; OR, A GEOGRAPHICAL DESCRIPTION OF THE WHOLE CONTINENT OF AMERICA'. LONDON: BY R. SAYER AND J. BENNETT, 1776
"One of the most authoritative and comprehensive atlases of America …" (Walter Ristow). It compares well with Pownall map in size and scope, from which many of its parts were developed. It is therefore, a very important atlas, especially of the Revolutionary War era. It also presents an extensive reconnaissance mapping of French Canada, including Newfoundland. The thirteen colonies are well represented, with eleven notably mapped, including North and South Carolina, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
