Description

  • 16.3 cm, 6 3/8  in.
with well-defined outlines centred with a large aperture, the opaque pale brown stone with grey and russet veining, the cover of the burlwood-inset box carved with a two-character inscription reading Zhou bi ('Bi Disc from the Zhou dynasty') followed by a four-character inscription reading Taozhai cang yu ('Jade from the collection of Taozhai'), the interior cover lined with blue silk and bearing a seal mark reading Taozhai jiancang shuhua ('Paintings and calligraphy appreciated by Taozhai')

Collection of Duanfang (1861-1911).

Condition

In good overall condition for its age and type. The box with typical age cracks (one infilled) as visible in the catalogue photo.
