Description

  • 11.9 and 14.4 cm, 4 1/4  and 5 5/8  in.
the first of trapezoidal form and subtly and crisply worked with bevelled edges, the stone of a rich moss-green colour variegated with white and black inclusions, pierced with two conjoined circular apertures; the other similarly worked from a variegated hunter-green stone with a tapering form, well polished with flat sides and pierced with small apertures

Provenance

An important Asian collection, acquired in the 1980s or earlier.

Condition

Ax: there are 3 areas of chip/flake to the top and side edge of the underside, top one of approx. 4 cm wide and height ranges from approx. 0.5 to 1 cm, side ones of approx. 0.2 x 0.8 cm and 0.35 x 2 cm. Blade: there are three triangular chips to top back corner of approx. 1.3 x 1 x 0.5 cm and the tip approx. 1.6 x 1.6 x 0.4 cm and 1 x 1 x 0.5 cm.
