Description

  • 6.8 and 4.9 cm, 2 5/8  and 1 7/8  in.
the first worked from a pale beige and brown stone, crisply decorated in openwork as a monster mask plaque with the lower edge centred with a row of teeth, the upper edge pierced with an aperture for suspension; the second of trapezoidal section with rounded edges, one side worked in low relief with a human face, the concave reverse centred with a raised ridge flanked by two connected apertures for suspension, the variegated rich moss-green stone accentuated with russet patches

Condition

The 'toothed animal mask' ornament: very minute nicks to the extremities, including one at the back of lower left corner approx. 0.3 x 0.1 cm, as visible in the catalogue photo. Each with typical natural inclusions and flaws in stone.
