Description

  • 4.5 and 6.3 cm, 1 3/4  and 2 1/2  in.
carved in relief with a sinuous chilong, the reverse incised with a taotie mask, the jade of an even white tone; the other lozenge section carved on one side with a sinuous chilong, the stone of a celadon green colour with russet streak on the reverse

Condition

The sword guards are in good overall condition with insignificant bruising and nibbling to the fragile edges and extremities, including one ear and the ridges above the eyes of the smaller chilong. An approx. 0.8 by 0.5 cm section appears to have been polished to one corner of the smaller sword guard.
