Description

  • d. 36.8 cm, 14 1/2  in.
of deep U-shaped body rising from a straight foot to an everted rim, painted en grisaille on the exterior depicting leafy branches of peonies, below bands of stylised floral sprays and a key-fret band, all reserved against a thick yellow enamel ground, inscribed in iron red under the rim with the Dayazhai mark surrounded by two confronting dragons within an oval panel reserved in white, the interior partly glazed white, the pierced base left unglazed revealing a pale buff-coloured ware

Condition

The jardiniere is in good condition with only minor chips and glaze flakes to the rim as expected of its age, widest 1.5cm. Minor enamel wear and firing imperfections.
