Description

  • 32.8 cm, 13 7/8  in.
of baluster form, painted on the exterior with scholars engaging in various leisure activites, all between horses and cranes among stylised ruyi clouds bands at the base and shoulder and a ruyi and auspicious knot band at the neck

Condition

Two crescent-shaped sections of the mouth (approx. 22 and 13 cm) have been restored with overspray, possibly to conceal some cracks. There is a retouched L-shaped hairline from the mouthrim extending down to the central luting line, which has also been retouched. Firing imperfections including fritting and associated glaze flakes (especially above the foot). Typical surface scratches.
