Condition

DIAL: enamel in good condition, no visible cracks CASE: outer case heavily tarnished. Inner case with scuffs throughout. Very slight indentations to the centre of the case back. MOVEMENT: winding, balance rotates for a short time but then stops Please note that the movement has not been tested for the accuracy of its timekeeping. Catalogue Note

Paul Philip Barraud was born in London, December 5th, 1752 of Huguenot lineage. He was admitted to the Clockmakers' Company in 1796 and elected master in 1810 and 1811. He died on the 26th August 1820.

A silver pair cased pocket chronometer by Barraud numbered 386 was in The Celebration of the English Watch Part I at Sotheby's London 15 December 2015, lot 76. With thanks to Jonathan Betts for his help with this watch.
