Catalogue Note

The reference 5140 was introduced at Basel World 2006 and was produced until 2017. The model was originally presented in white gold, such as the present lot. The reference 5140 was then made available in yellow gold in 2007, followed by platinum and pink gold in 2010.
The 5140 had the challenging task to replace the popular reference 3940. In order to give a more modern look to the classic automatic perpetual calendar, the new model had a larger case measuring 37mm. The literature on the dial is also larger to optimize the overall legibility.
The 5140 was always available with both a plain and a sapphire display back, which the present lot still has. Furthermore, the model was officially delivered with a pin buckle but was available on special request with a folding clasp, as on this example.
This piece, in very good condition and presented as a complete set, is an great opportunity to acquire one of less than 20 examples that have appeared on the auction market.
