Catalogue Note

A FINE COPY IN THE VERY RARE DUST-JACKETS. We have been unable to trace any copy sold at auction in the original dust-jackets. Hose was a colonial official in Sarawak and a talented ethnologist. ODNB notes that The Pagan Tribes of Borneo became "required reading for cadets in the Sarawak civil service". See also lot 270.
