Catalogue Note

A RARE SERIES OF VIEWS OF TRIESTE AND THE ISTRIAN PENINSULA, at the time of publication part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. August Tischbein exhibited in Vienna between 1842 and 1867 and was known as a painter of landscapes and architecture. August Selb (1812-1859) was born in Munich, studied under his father, the artist and lithographer Josef, and at the Munich academy.
