Château Latour 1970 Pauillac, 1er Cru Classé1 bt - u. vts, excellent appearance, 5 bts - u. 2bn, 2ts, 1hs, labels very slightly glue striped, 1 very slightly scuffed, capsules slightly damaged on collarIn 2019, I have never had a better bottle (from our own stock, bought in the 1970s, with perfect storage). Great colour and a true Pauillac First Growth cassis nose, with an affinity to Mouton here. Aromatic Cabernet at its height and headily scented with sublime terroir. A fabulous sensation on the palate, with power, succulence, fruit and...obvious future longevity. An incredible cocoa powder finish - intoxicating really. A sleeping giant - perhaps only dozing.
