Description

Hermitage, La Chapelle 1972 Paul Jaboulet Aîné u. 1x3.5cm, 2x4.5cm, wines come from different importers, bin-soiled labels, corroded capsules, signs of seepageThere are massive 'legs' on the three vintages 1972, 1971 and 1970. The wine falls slowly down the glass leaving a trail like a snail, a sure sign of glycerol and 'fat'. A bouquet of glorious chocolate and iron. . Smoky blackcurrants. Tremendous, almost sweet scent. Smells like a great, much older wine from the Côte de Nuits. Vanilla pods and cinnamon sticks. Russian leather. Huge tannin and acidity. Great vegetal richness with a chocolate and coffee aftertaste and smoky fruit. A real pleasure to drink now and a wine that is very 'together'. Serena Sutcliffe, MW6 bts (sc)Estimates are per lot
