The canvas has been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher.
There is some scattered hairline craquelure, notably in the upper half of the composition, which appears to be stable.
Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals some strokes of retouching in the upper part of the extreme left framing edge and lines of in-painting in some of the craquelure. It should be noted some of the in-painting has discoloured and is also visible to the naked eye.
The final letter in the artist's signature also appears to have been somewhat strengthened.
Overall, this work is in good condition but its appearance could benefit from some restoration to the discoloration mentioned above.
