Condition

The canvas has not been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher. There is some scattered craquelure throughout, mainly in the sky and corresponding to the central stretcher member. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals scattered areas of retouching in the sky, including a circa 5 by 15cm area closer to the centre of the upper framing edge and two circa 5 by 5cm areas in the upper right corner. Intermittent bands of retouching are also visible along the lower and left framing edges respectively. Overall, this work presents well and is ready to hang.
