The canvas has been lined and is securely attached to a keyed wooden stretcher. There is a pattern of hairline craquelure throughout, however not too distracting. Inspection under ultra-violet light reveals strokes of retouching along the four framing edges and some scattered retouching in the sky, including:
- a circa 5 by 2 cm area closer to the centre of the right framing edge;
- a circa 10cm diagonal stroke in the upper right quadrant; and
- intermittent strokes in the centre of the composition possibly addressing a stretcher mark.
It should be noted most of these retouching are also visible to the naked eye but only upon close inspection.
Otherwise, this work is in overall good condition and is ready to hang.
Presented in a decorative gilt frame in fair condition, with some losses.
