Catalogue Note

Isaac, son and student of the marine painter Adam Willaerts (1577-1664) and brother of Abraham Willaerts (1603-1669), became a member of the Utrecht painters guild of Saint Luke in 1637. This is an early work by Isaac, strongly influenced by Isaac's father Adam, with whom his work has often been confused.
