Provenance

Chateau of Pontchartrain, Jouars-Pontchartrain.

Condition

Minor wear to the patina, notably to the high points, and surface dirt consistent with age and handling. Some minor greening is visible in several places, notably in the crevices.

Catalogue Note

The bronze model of this bust was cast circa 1688, under the supervision of Jules Hardouin-Mansart, for the Grand Condé's nephew, the Prince of Conti (chateau of Versailles, inv. MR 3343).
