Catalogue Note

This portrait is a replica by the workshop of Louis-Michel van Loo, after the engraving by Fessard. There are several autograph versions and one of them is at Versailles (see C. Constans, Musée National de Versailles, Les peintures, Paris, 1995, vol. II, p. 899, n° 5075) and another one at the Langres Museum. The frame is stamped by Lemaire.
