Catalogue Note

This portrait was painted by a miniaturist at the Valois court greatly influenced by the style of the English master Nicholas Hilliard. In 1577-1578, Hilliard followed to Fontainebleau the newly appointed ambassador : Sir Aymas Paulet. On this occasion, he portrayed several members of the Valois family and their court.
