Description

  • Haut. 116, larg. 64 cm (la feuille) ; height 45 2/3  in, width 25 1/4  in (one leaf)
richly carved with foliages, flowers and ribbons; upholstered in 18th century silk damask

Condition

The photograph is too yellow. The giltwood has been carefully cleaned up. Lavish and wonderful carving, with very few tiny chips on the top of one leaf (not distracting). . Very nice gilding and carving with exquisite details. As said, it has been reupholstered with 18th century damask (in good condition). Very good overall condition, ready to display.

Jean-Baptiste Tilliard, received master in 1717 An almost identical folding screen was previously in the Galerie Gismondi, Paris (illustrated p.192 in Le Meuble Français by Pierre Kjellberg, Paris, 1991). It had been bought in New York, Sotheby's, 28 October 1978, lot 115.
